After a one year hiatus due to the pandemic health emergency, the Lower Southampton, PA Township Independence Day Parade and celebration will return to Feasterville with all its pageantry, music, color and excitement on Monday, July 5 beginning at 1 p.m. The public is invited free of charge.
According to Ed Shannon, parade committee chairperson, “I’m thrilled to be able to announce that we will be parading and celebrating again this year.” This year’s patriotic salute to America’s birthday will be staged and conducted under the aegis of the Lower Southampton Township supervisors and the Independence Day parade committee.
The 2021 parade edition will feature appearances by the Philadelphia Eagles Pep Band, South Philadelphia and Uptown String Bands and Tri-County and DJ Bands and the Marching Cobras. Also performing will be popular country and western entertainer Jody King and the St. Columcille United Gaelic Band. The Lower Southampton Police Department honor guard will carry and display America’s colors.
In addition, there will be antique and classic cars, as well as local and visiting fire departments, members of the Feasterville Business Association along with their college scholarship winners, and the Lower Southampton Township Veterans Advisory Committee. Also in the line of march will be the Dave Adams Motorcycle Car and Jack Bergen Police Motorcycle. Additionally, there will be youngsters representing the Lower Southampton Athletic Association, Action Karate and Leaps & Bounders.
The Lower Southampton July 5th Parade will begin at Second Street and Bustleton Pike in Feasterville at 1 p.m. and move north on Route 213 Bridgetown Pike to the Lower Southampton Intermediate School and the Lower Southampton Township grounds. Volunteers are needed to help set up and serve as marshals for the event.
