July 12, 2023 Board of Supervisor Meeting Information

The next Board of Supervisors Meeting Is Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 7:30 PM in the Township Administration Building, 1500 Desire Avenue.  The meeting will be televised live on the Township Cable Channel – 22 for Comcast customers, 28 for Verizon customers.  The public is invited to attend.

Residents unable to attend the meeting are invited to email their public comment to publiccomment@lstwp.org by 5 PM on Wednesday, July 12th.  Public comment MUST include name & address.  All comments will be read during the public comment portion of the meeting.

Low Income Household Water Assistance Program

Applications will be accepted July 10, 2023 through August 11, 2023.

PECO Utility Improvements Scheduled for Street Road

PennDOT announced that PECO Energy will be performing utility construction on Street Road starting Tuesday, July 11 through Friday, July 28, from 9 AM to 3 PM, a weekday lane closure is scheduled on Street Road in both directions between Stump Road and Buck Road.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur.  All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Board of Auditors Vacancy

Due to a recent passing on the Board of Auditors, the Board of Supervisors is seeking an individual to fill the vacancy.  Interested parties must be a resident of Lower Southampton Township for at least one year.  If you are interested, submit a Letter of Intent along with a resume to the Township Manager by no later than noon on Thursday, July 6, 2023.  Submission can be made in person at the Township Administration Building, 1500 Desire Avenue or email administration@lstwp.org.

Candidates should be prepared to be interviewed by the Board of Supervisors during their Work Shop on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 6 PM.  You must be able to attend that evening to be considered.  The Board of Supervisors will name a replacement that evening and the individual will be sworn in during the Board of Supervisors meeting held that evening at 7:30 PM.

The Pennsylvania Second Class Township Code requires the election of a 3-member Board of Auditors, each serving 6-year terms.  The primary function of the Board of Auditors is to set compensation for the current Township Board of Supervisors.  The Board of Auditors meets annually, on the day immediately following the Board of Supervisors Reorganization meeting in January.

Lower Southampton Township contracts with an independent certified public accounting firm to provide an annual audit of the Township’s financial statements in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards.  The duties of the Board of Elected Auditors are, therefore, limited to setting compensation for the Board of Supervisors per Second Class Township Code.

  • Download our PECO mobile app to quickly report an outage from a mobile device. The app will also provide notifications as the outage status is updated.
  • Utilize our two-way texting program for reporting an outage and receiving updates. By texting “ADDOUTAGE” to MYPECO (697326), customers can opt in to receiving text message updates, report outages and check the status of their outage through text. To use this service a customer’s mobile number must be registered with their account.
  • Report an outage online, including on a smart phone or tablet, by providing the account or phone number.
  • Use our interactive outage map to report an outage and for the most up-to-date outage information.
  • Call us directly at 1-800-841-4141 to report an outage or natural gas emergency.
    • If you smell natural gas or see downed power lines, leave the area immediately and call 1-800-841-4141. Representatives are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Stay Safe.

  • Always stay away from damaged electrical equipment, especially downed power lines and tree limbs that may come into contact with power lines.
  • Don’t connect your portable generator directly to your home’s wiring. Never use a generator indoors or in an attached garage. Read and adhere to the manufacturer’s instructions for safe operation.
