Mission
A subordinate Board to the Lower Southampton Board of Supervisors, the Veterans Advisory Council gathers information for and distributes information to area Veterans. The Council also tries to assist local Veterans with their questions about needs and resources that may be available to them. We also advise the Board of Supervisors and Township Residents on matters relevant to the Township Veteran population.
Vision
The Veterans Advisory Council (VAC) is a single-point Veteran information and advice resource for Lower Southampton Residents, Municipal Agencies, and the Board of Supervisors. The VAC either has the information, or access to information needed by these entities. The VAC tracks and distributes information about Local, County, State and Federal Veteran resources and events. The VAC works closely with other Veteran Organizations and offices to gather and provide information.
Honoring Our Veterans: Hall of Heroes & Hometown Hero Banner Programs
Our community is proud to recognize and celebrate the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces through two meaningful initiatives: the Hall of Heroes Program and the Hometown Hero Banner Program.
The Hall of Heroes is a dedicated space honoring local veterans – past and present – who have selflessly served our country. This tribute is located within the Sarah Mitchell Community Center. Recipients must have at least 5 years of residency and received honorable discharge.
The Hometown Hero Banner Program offers families and friends the opportunity to honor a deceased veteran by displaying a personalized banner in the community. These banners feature the veteran’s name, photo, and branch of service. Recipients must have at least 15 years of residency and received an honorable discharge.
We invite residents to participate in these programs by submitting an application.
Whether through a banner displayed along our streets or inclusion in the Hall of Heroes, each tribute helps us collectively express our gratitude.
