Due to a recent passing on the Board of Auditors, the Board of Supervisors is seeking an individual to fill the vacancy. Interested parties must be a resident of Lower Southampton Township for at least one year. If you are interested, submit a Letter of Intent along with a resume to the Township Manager by no later than noon on Thursday, July 6, 2023. Candidates should be prepared to be interviewed by the Board of Supervisors during their Work Shop on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 6 PM. You must be able to attend that evening to be considered. The Board of Supervisors will name a replacement that evening and the individual will be sworn in during the Board of Supervisors meeting held that evening at 7:30 PM.
The Pennsylvania Second Class Township Code requires the election of a 3-member Board of Auditors, each serving 6-year terms. The primary function of the Board of Auditors is to set compensation for the current Township Board of Supervisors. The Board of Auditors meets annually, on the day immediately following the Board of Supervisors Reorganization meeting in January.
Lower Southampton Township contracts with an independent certified public accounting firm to provide an annual audit of the Township’s financial statements in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards. The duties of the Board of Elected Auditors are, therefore, limited to setting compensation for the Board of Supervisors per Second Class Township Code.
