Message from PECO about Payment Scams

Dear Customer

We have seen an increase in reports of payment scams in your area. These scammers are contacting PECO customers and falsely claiming their electric or gas service will be disconnected unless payment is made immediately. These scammers use tactics such as “spoofing” to manipulate the Caller ID phone number displayed on your phone so that it appears to be a PECO phone number.

PECO will never demand immediate payment, nor will we ever require one specific form of payment, such as a prepaid card or bitcoin. For approved payment methods and options, visit peco.com/payment. Do not pay on-site for services, PECO employees will never ask for or demand cash payments or personal banking information in-person. You should never provide anyone access to your home to someone who claims to be from PECO, or a contractor working for PECO, unless the person has proper identification.

For more information on payment scams and what you can do to keep your information safe, visit peco.com/scams. If you are ever suspicious of a caller claiming to be from PECO, hang up and call us directly at 1-800-494-4000.

Thank you,

PECO
