9/11 Heroes Run Information

The Travis Manion 9/11 Heroes Run will be held on Saturday, September 11th.  This 5K Run and 1-mile Fun Run is organized by the Lower Southampton Veterans Advisory Council in conjunction with the Travis Manion Foundation whose goal is to foster long-term appreciation for the sacrifices made by those men and women since September 11, 2001, who fought against terrorism both in foreign wars and on the home front.

The 5K will run through the Buckridge Farms neighborhood on the day of the race.  The streets affected by the closure include Mallard, Nancy, Sandpiper, Woodcock, Pheasant, Quail, Eastview, Westview, Waycross and Midway. Please remove all vehicles from your street the night before.  From approximately 8:30 AM until 10:30 AM on the day of the race, these streets will be closed to all vehicular traffic.

We are asking residents to show your support for the runners and the ones they run for by flying your American Flags and patriotic decorations – and, if you can, watch the race and cheer on the runners!

FEMA to Help Pay Funeral Costs for COVID-19 Related Deaths

In early April, FEMA will begin providing financial assistance for funeral expenses incurred after Jan. 20, 2020 for deaths related to coronavirus (COVID-19) to help ease some of the financial stress and burden caused by the pandemic. The policy was finalized today, and FEMA is now moving rapidly to implement this funeral assistance program nationwide.

“At FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters,” said Acting FEMA Administrator Bob Fenton. “The COVID-19 pandemic has caused immense grief for so many people. Although we cannot change what has happened, we affirm our commitment to help with funeral and burial expenses that many families did not anticipate.”

To be eligible for COVID-19 funeral assistance, the policy states:

  • The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien who incurred funeral expenses after Jan. 20, 2020 for a death attributed to COVID-19.
  • If multiple individuals contributed toward funeral expenses, they should apply under a single application as applicant and co-applicant. FEMA will also consider documentation from other individuals not listed as the applicant and co-applicant who may have incurred funeral expenses as part of the registration for the deceased individual.
  • An applicant may apply for multiple deceased individuals.
  • The COVID-19-related death must have occurred in the United States, including the U.S. territories and the District of Columbia.
  • This assistance is limited to a maximum financial amount of $9,000 per funeral and a maximum of $35,500 per application.
  • Funeral assistance is intended to assist with expenses for funeral services and interment or cremation.

There is a hotline set-up for assistance – 1-844-684-6333

The Township is hoping to hold a COVID-19 vaccination clinic where we could vaccinate up to 750 residents over two dates. However, we need help from the community to make this happen. If you or someone you know is an RN, CRNP, PA, MD, or DO, please contact the Township at 215-357-7300 x305 for more information about volunteering.
